Impalas can hold and delay the birth of newborns up to one month. From the birth of the first impala, all babies in the herd are born within twenty-four hours. These skittish but lovely animals are jokingly referred to as "fast food" for predators, because their numbers are so profligate. Also smilingly referred to as the "McDonald's of the bush" for the black stripes on their butts often shaped like the McDonald's arches. Really lovely, sensitive creatures, even the bucks wear a certain delicacy about them.
